The death of John “Ian” H. MacDonald, age 86 years, of Fox Brook, NS, formerly of Riverview, NB, occurred on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. Born in Hopewell, he was a son of the late H. Herman MacDonald and Dorothy Jane (Wood) MacDonald. John “Ian” worked with the Canadian National Railway for over 36 years. He was an avid sport fisherman, hunter, hobby farmer and gardener and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, loving father and special grampie/great grampie. John “Ian” is survived by his wife of 64 years Frances “Lou” (Cushing) MacDonald; two daughters, Bambury (Bill) Pristanski, and Judy MacDonald (Garnett Wilson); son John (Donna) MacDonald; grandchildren Stephen, Sara, Bryce, Matthew, John Julian, Kassandra and David; and great-grandchildren. John “Ian” is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. His funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Bonnie Langille officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery. Donations in his memory can be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
