Kenneth Zentner — New Glasgow

Kenneth Zentner
Kenneth Joseph Zentner, 83, passed away early Monday morning. He was surrounded by his family at the Aberdeen Hospital. Born December 31st, 1934, Ken was a farm boy in Saskatchewan where he was one of 12 children. He later left the farm to join the Air Force where he served for 25 years before settling in Woodburn. Along the way he met Shirley Cholmondeley, from Thorburn, with whom he had three children, Brenda Tucker (Kirby), Kelley Lee and Greg Zentner (Betty). After retiring in Woodburn, Ken operated the Blue Acres car wash for nearly a decade, later also driving a school bus. Beyond his deep love for his family, Ken had a passion for horses and owned and raced standard-breed horses for many years. Ken was blessed to have found his second love in 1999 when he married Frances Cruickshank. Through their bond, Ken’s family grew to include Frances’ two children, Myrna Johnstone (Glenn) and Barry Cruickshank (Melinda) and their incredible family. He also had the joy to meet two great-grandchildren (Vivian and Landen). Ken will be remembered for his soft, yet stern nature and his eagerness to tease his ten grandkids: Kirsten (Paul), Jacob (Violet), Thomas (Ginny), Jennifer (Luke), Laura, Jessica, Naomi, Melissa (DJ), Kayla, and Logan (Jordan). His family would like to extend their gratitude to the medical staff at the Aberdeen Hospital who cared for him in his final moments, with special thanks to Dr. Peter Lee. The wake will be Thursday, April 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow with a funeral service Friday at 11 a.m. to be held in the chapel. Burial service to be held in the Woodburn cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Ken may be made to the Woodburn Cemetery or a charity of your choice. www.angusfuneralhomes.com
