Larry Murray

New Glasgow – Larry Murray. With broken hearts, the wife and family of Larry Gordon Murray, announce his passing on Monday, April 23, 2018. Larry was a kind and loving man. He loved his wife and chosen children and grandchildren with all of his heart and soul. He was there for his wife through her battle with cancer and loved his chosen children, often getting up early to drive Norma-Jean to work or pick up Joey from the rink after a late-night hockey game. He often held Ally on his knee watching hockey and ball. He never missed a dance on Saturday night. Larry worked hard all his working career. He worked for Crescent Jewellers, the motor vehicles in Halifax and retired from the Inspection Department at Trenton Works. Larry was born Nov. 1, 1938, to Dan and Aileen (MacDonald) Murray, at Glenfalloch and is survived by his soulmate and wife, Eleanor DeCoste; chosen daughter, Norma-Jean DeCoste, chosen granddaughter, Ally; chosen son, Joey DeCoste (Emily), chosen grandsons, Chase and Walker, chosen granddaughter, Madison Moulton; sisters: Rita Nugent, Ottawa; Anita Murray; and Bessie (George) Dierk, both of BC; Faye (Joe) McIvor, Merigomish; brother, Wayne (Marjorie), Barney’s River; many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews whom he loved very much; sisters-in-law: Marie MacLellan, New Glasgow; Cathy Crowell, Sask; Norma DeCoste, Trenton; brothers-in-law: Ivan (Ann) DeCoste, The Ponds; Allen (Janet) DeCoste, Merigomish. He was predeceased by brother, Gerald; sister, Barbara; and brother-in-law, John. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow, from where funeral will be held at 10 am Thursday, with Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Merigomish.
