Leamon Ryan
RYAN, Leamon Robert It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leamon Robert Ryan, Trenton, on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. He died surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Trenton on April 15, 1943 to parents Edith (Hayden) and Charles Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beatrice (nee Marshall) (Cooke); daughter, Leanne (Chris White), Trenton; step-children, Lynn Cooke, New Glasgow, Mike Cooke, Thorburn, Wendy (Rod McInnis), Trenton, Karen (Bernard MacNeil), Trenton, and Marty Cooke, at home; his grandchildren, Andrew MacDougall, Halifax, Edison Skinner, Toronto, Sean McInnis, Erin (Dan) Trowell , Mitchell MacNeil, and Charlie White, all of Trenton, Susan (Chad) Walker, Toronto, Janet (Mathieu) Normant, Montreal, and Joanna (Terry) Kirk, Coalburn; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Avery, Selene, Latham, Katelyn, and Aaron; his brother, Melvin (Beverly) Ryan, New Glasgow. He was predeceased by his parents, Edie and Charles; his siblings, Jimmy, Billy, and Mae. Raised in Trenton, Leamon was employed as a welder at the Trenton Car Works for 42 years. In his younger years, he loved hunting, fishing, and going to the camp with his good friends. He was a quiet, good man who loved his family, especially enjoying the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It takes a special man to walk into a ready-made family of five little children and raise them all as his own. He was a good husband, father, and provider. Leamon's family wishes to thank Dr. Tom Park, the V.O.N., the Home Care Workers, and Meals- On- Wheels. Their support allowed him to remain at home until his final two weeks. The kindness and professionalism of the Emergency Room Staff, the ICU staff, nurses on the 4th Floor and the compassion and care of Dr. Ann Kwasnik and the special nurses in Palliative Care will always be gratefully remembered. Cremation has taken place. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 73 High St., Trenton. Visitation was held Friday, Nov. 29. As per his wishes, a family service was held Saturday, Nov. 30, with Fergie MacKay presiding. A family burial service followed at the Abercrombie Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Please give any donations in Leamon's memory to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
