Mary Long — New Glasgow

Mary Esther Long age 93 of The Oaks , Highcrest and formerly of Thorburn passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Millbrook, September 30th 1924 . She was a daughter of the late Robert and Annie (MacKenzie) Chisholm. Mary was a resident of Thorburn for over 60 years, and was a devoted community member . She was a retired school teacher and had taught at several schools throughout the county .She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church ,as well as a member of the Ladies Guild . Mary was a former member of the Thorburn Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and one of the founding members of the District 13 Rink Commission. She is survived by daughters Sharon (Armand) Lorge, Robert Long, Ardyth (Geordie) Palmer , Audrey (Tim) Goswell, her grandchildren ; Craig Lorge (Angela Langille) , Dana Lorge ,Matthew (Allison) Lorge ,Erin (Scott) Neufeld , Janet (Mark) Halliday , Elana (Jeff) Pollock ,Justine (Jamie) Kelly ,Brennan Goswell ,Andrew Goswell . Great grandchildren Emma Lorge , Lucas ,Gabe and Madelyn Neufeld , Jordyn and Carmen Halliady , Axel Kelly. Sister-in-law Phyllis Constanino, nieces Cheryl (Red) McKeen ,Judy (Ron) Carruthers ,Janice Cruickshank ,nephew Jim Cruickshank (Elizabeth MacLean) She was predeceased by her son Kevin, sisters Laurine Chisholm, Lillian (Albert) Cruickshank. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 on Wednesday ,May 2nd in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home . Funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday May 3rd in Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Gairloch Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Gairloch Cemetery or to the Union Presbyterian Church www.angusfuneralhomes.com
