Michael Edward “Tawson” Flynn

New Glasgow - Michael Edward “Tawson” Flynn, 71, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018, at home. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Bob and Evelyn (Morgan) Flynn. He was very active with and dedicated to the North End Ball Team for a number of years, as manager, equipment manager, field crew, or whatever job was needed. He always made sure the field was ready, regardless of the weather; many games would have been cancelled if not for him. Tawson was highly respected by the team. He was also very involved with the Pictou County Rugby Club and was a member of the Pictou County Sports Heritage Hall of Fame. He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church; and the Elks Lodge 226, New Glasgow. He was a true North Ender. Michael is survived by his twin brother, Barry (Charlene); nieces: Patti (Colin) MacLeod, and their children Ian and Evelyn; Meredith Flynn; Patricia (Troy) MacLeod, and their children Taya and Paisley; nephew, Shane (Serina) MacDougall, and their children Austin, Isaac and Abby; aunt, Anne Cullen; numerous cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Pat and her husband, Clifford MacDougall. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow. Funeral Mass 11 am Thursday, in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Glasgow, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the Pictou County SPCA or a charity of choice.
