Patricia Ann “Patsy” Carson, 74, of Munro Avenue Extension, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer on January 30, 2018 in the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Catherine (Thompson) Stewart. Patsy was employed as a personal care worker at Glen Haven Manor for over 32 years until she was forced into retirement due to illness. She loved each of her guests and treated them with special care and compassion. Patsy was a lifetime member of St Paul United church where she taught Sunday School and CGIT for a number of years. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Graham; son Earle (Karen), Westville; daughter Colleen (Mike) Richard, Dawson Creek; grandchildren Karlee and Matthew Carson and Nicholas and Emily Richard. She is also survived by sister Olivia (James) Cameron, Hazel Glen; brother Tom Stewart, Westville; nieces and nephews Betty Cameron, Doug (Cathy) Cameron, Alex (Sheila) Cameron, Carrie Stewart and Luke Stewart; and sister-in-law Willena Carson. She was predeceased by infant sister Laureen. With an abundance of love and kindness she was a motherly figure to so many. Patsy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren both in Nova Scotia and British Columbia and she loved cooking their favorite recipes and having family dinners. The family want to express a special thank you to Patsy’s special niece Betty Cameron for all her support during Patsy’s numerous stays in the VG Hospital and for cousin Robert for his support attending her many appointments. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 11:00 AM from St Paul United Church, Westville with Rev. Mary Taylor officiating. Spring burial will be in the Gladstone Cemetery.
