The 2019 New Glasgow Music Festival had over 800 entries in a huge variety of classes and encompassed 16 days of amazing performances.
This year there was a significant increase in the number of band and choir entrants from other parts of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. These travelling groups were welcomed by the Festival Committee and the Town of New Glasgow, adding extra excitement to many events.
The adjudicators at the 2019 New Glasgow Music Festival all commented on the high calibre of performances, and noted the strong sense of community spirit evident in friendly competition. A huge thank you goes to all those who performed in the 2019 Festival. We hope you reached for the stars and discovered that there are no limits to your own potential. Thank you to the proud families and hardworking teachers who spent months preparing and supporting their talented young musicians.
Thank you to the large team of 60 to 70 organized and energetic volunteers who ensured events ran smoothly and efficiently. Without these dedicated people, there would be no festival. Thank you to the venues who hosted events: NNEC, St. Georges, St. Andrews, Trinity and First Presbyterian. You opened your doors to let the community in to watch, listen and enjoy.
Our sincere appreciation is extended to the many sponsors and patrons of the festival whose ongoing support contributes greatly to its sustainability. We are proud of what a community can do collectively to promote arts and culture in our
youth.
If it ‘takes a village to raise a child’, then it takes a community to run a music festival. Thank you to our community for making the 2019 New Glasgow Music Festival an outstanding success.

Alison MacPherson,
President, New Glasgow Music Festival
