To the editor,

Hard to believe another Christmas has come and gone! However, another Christmas where there are so many to thank once again for helping to make sure our Community Christmas Dinner at St George’s in New Glasgow was another huge success.
This dinner is intended for those who may be alone or just not up to cooking dinner or just may need a meal. Whatever your reason, we are so pleased and happy to be there for you.
As with so many other initiatives in Pictou County, this meal would be much more difficult to put together without the very strong support of our business community. Sobeys, Saputo, Thorburn Country Market, Pictou Advocate, UPS, Mix 94.1, NG News and Eastlink. Thank you so much for supplying the groceries, dairy products, dinner rolls and desserts, place mats, posters and advertising. To Little Harbour Community Centre and Little Harbour Fire Department, who allowed us to use their ovens to cook our turkeys, thank you!

To St George’s Anglican Church, thank you for allowing us to host this meal in such a cozy environment. Thank you so much to Phoebe Fraser and Judy Morton for their very thoughtful cookie bags to all our patrons. Thank you to Alan Keefe, Chapel Cove Chocolate, for the delicious chocolate treats. Thank you to Steve Goodwin for the story to highlight our dinner. thank you to all who made such generous monetary donations which helps so much with the purchase of our turkeys and other supplies not covered by our corporate donations.

To the team who worked so hard to make this dinner happen, those who made sure the signs were posted, tickets distributed, helped set up the hall, peeled vegetables, carved the turkeys, cooked the meal, prepared each plate, served the dinner and desserts, scraped the plates, washed the dishes and the pots and even stayed to help with the clean up, a huge thank you.

I want to highlight the young adults who worked so hard to help with the candy canes, chocolate, drinks, rolls and resets, whatever they could do to help, thank you so much. Thank you to all who came to partake of this meal, we do this for you.

This is not a one person job, this meal happens because of a team who come together and together we provide a Christmas Dinner to anyone who wants to come. Thank you all so very much. Hope to see you all next year!
