LETTER: Christmas story invitation – in summer

Dear friends: As many of you know, for the past three years I have published books called Cape Breton’s Christmas – One, Two and Three.

They are books of memories and short fiction about Cape Breton Christmas experiences.

This year, I plan to publish another collection – Book Four of Cape Breton’s Christmas.

As we did last year, all royalties from sales of Book Four will be donated to Feed Nova Scotia through CBC Radio’s “Light Up a Life” project. And if your story is selected for the book you will receive a free copy of Cape Breton’s Christmas.

I want to invite everyone to submit your Christmas memories and stories for this book.

Everyone has a Christmas story – real or imagined stories of the Cape Breton Christmas that was nearly ruined and of the Christmas that was saved just in time – of the events that gave special meaning to the holiday, of Christmas celebrated on the island or far from home, happy or sad.

Please send your stories of the good times and moments of generosity and also those stories of Christmas times that were clouded with tragedy or disappointment. Whether short or long, please feel free to send your stories—and please send them now. The book goes to the printer in early September.

Please submit your stories to me at Please do it now while I have you thinking of Christmas.
