SCOTSBURN, N.S. — To the editor,
I don’t doubt other nominees who ran for the Central Nova Conservative candidacy might be upset at seeing another candidate parachuted in after Roger MacKay stepped out for personal reasons. What a kick in the face to those other nominees, and to the local Conservative Party association from the party’s national level.
George Canyon, were he elected, might turn out to be a quick study as a politician on federal issues, he might be great at establishing a presence in Central Nova and doing constituency work. Who knows?
But any voter would do well to think hard about support based on a candidate’s celebrity status. Celebrity status has been used by politicians elsewhere, and not necessarily with stellar results.
