To the editor,
For many permanent residents of Black Point there was no festive mood last week. I first came to Black Point in 1994. For 25 years that tree has been standing majestically in its field. On turning into Black Point road it’s sight was a signal that we were safely back on home turf. The present owners of the property came, saw and cut down the tree. Choosing to be its terminator rather than its guardian. Now their property is up for sale and they will soon move on. We the permanent residents are left to bear the sadness. As my wife says when we drive by now, “Don’t look! It’s too painful.”
