PICTOU COUNTY – The Pictou County Bantam A Crushers had an exciting weekend of hockey at last weekends Bantam Memorial Tournament with three of their players receiving major awards.

Forward Dawson MacKay and goaltender Chloe Stroud were named tournament all-stars while forward Isaac Willison was awarded one of the ICE awards for displaying intensity, contribution and effort throughout the tournament.

The Bantam A Crushers were seeded in a tough division with the Dartmouth Whalers, Cape Breton County Islanders and Halifax Hawks and during the round robin had wins against Cape Breton and Halifax to be part of a three-way tie for two spots to advance.

The tie-breaker rule of goals differential saw the Crushers eliminated. Both Dartmouth and Halifax won crossovers and met in the final where the Halifax Hawks prevailed in a 3 -1 win for the A Division Tournament Championship. Individual game awards for sportsmanship were awarded to Cale Archibald, Isaac Willison and Will Woolcock. Player of the game awards went to Ethan Trowell, Chloe Stroud and Dawson MacKay.

The Bantam A Crushers resume their regular season play this Saturday with a home game against the Brookfield Elks at 11:30 a.m. at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
