Bantam AA Crushers win N.S. silver

YARMOUTH, N.S. – The Pictou County Bantam AA Crushers captured a silver medal at the provincial championships in Yarmouth this past weekend.

The Crushers advanced to the championship game with an exciting 4-3 overtime win over Glace Bay. Lane Lochead scored the winning goal 2:22 into overtime assisted by Logan Crosby. Lochead and Crosby both ended the game with two goals and two assists each.

Other assists went to Reese Smith and Cory MacGillivray. Cole Battist was solid in nets to collect the win.

The win sent Pictou County to the title game, where they faced the Halifax Hawks. The Crushers battled hard but came out on the wrong end of a 3-1 score. Lane Lochead picked up the lone Crusher goal.

In round robin action, Pictou County defeated Acadia 3-2, posted a 3-2 victory over Halifax 3-2, tied Strait Richmond 5-5, and took a 5-3 loss oat the hands of the TASA Ducks.

Player of the game awards went to Crosby, Cory MacGillivray, Reese Smith, Cale Archibald, Lane Lochead, and Jayden Duplessis. Individual awards from the weekend went to Lochead, who won the Shootout event during the skills session, while Cale Archibald was selected all-star defenseman. Logan Crosby was named tournament MVP and leading scorer. The Crushers successful season ended with a 44-10-3 record.
