WESTVILLE ROAD, N.S. – The Pictou County bantam AA Crushers had a successful weekend, with a win and a tie against visiting Yarmouth Mariners.
On Saturday, the Crushers defeated the Mariners 6-0.
Lane Lochead and Logan Crosby each scored two goals with singles going to Reese Smith and Cory MacGillivray. Assist went to Brenden Avery (2), Crosby (2), Smith and MacGillivray. Cole Battist was solid between the pipes to earn the shutout.
On Sunday, Pictou County gave up two late goals to settle for a 5-5 tie. Goal scorers were Crosby, with a hat trick, and Lochead, with two. Assists went to Crosby (2), Avery (2), Lochead (2), Smith and Jax Graham.
With the win and tie, the Crushers expanded their overall lead over second-place Yarmouth in the Nova Scotia Mainland League standings. This weekend, Pictou County travels to Amherst for a pair of games.
