Colleen Jones will get her chance to claim a 15th provincial women’s curling crown on Sunday afternoon.

Mayflower’s Jones, owner of 14 Nova Scotia titles, earned her spot in the championship game (2:30 p.m.) with a 6-4 victory over clubmate and defending champion Jill Brothers in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts’ semifinal Saturday evening at the Dartmouth Curling Club.

Jones, after collecting steals of one in both the fourth and fifth ends, saw her 3-0 lead vanish after Brothers stole one in the seventh. The teams traded points in the eighth and ninth ends before Jones scored a deuce in the final end.

Jones will face Mayflower’s Mary-Anne Arsenault, who advanced to the final after beating Jones 6-3 Friday night in round-robin action. Arsenault – who’s seeking her fifth provincial crown – and Jones finished with identical 6-1 records following preliminary play.

Brothers advanced to the semifinal by disposing of Dartmouth’s Tanya Hilliard 7-3 in the Saturday morning tiebreaker.

Brothers scored two in the opening end, stole another in the second and closed the match with another deuce in the ninth end.
