WESTVILLE ROAD, N.S. – Jacob Hickey and Jaden Mason both had two goals as the Junior A Crushers beat the Truro Bearcats 5-3 on Saturday.

Evan Gallant also scored for the Crushers, who have won three straight, the first time all season they have done so.

Crushers’ netminder Matt Normore had gone 198 minutes without allowing a goal before Truro’s G Blackmore put a puck past him 11 minutes into the game. It was the first of two on the night for Blackmore, while Caleb Hart also scored for Truro.

Alexis Quane-Arsenault had two helpers for Pictou County.

Friday in Berwick, Normore picked up his third straight shutout as the Crushers beat the Valley Wildcats 3-0.

Kevin Mason and Jacob Hickey scored goals in the first period for the Crushers and Barrett Dachyshyn clinched things with an empty-netter. Dylan Riley collected two assists.

The Crushers and Bearcats will play each other again on Thursday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre (PCWC), before the Crushers finish off the 2018 calendar with a home game Saturday against the South Shore Lumberjacks, the team Pictou County is trying to chase down for the final playoff spot in the South Division standings.

South Shore is five points ahead of the Crushers, with three games in hand.
