WESTVILLE – The Westville Curling Club hopes to hit a Curl for Cancer milestone this year.
A total of 40 teams are scheduled to take part on Feb. 15, the 13th annual edition of the fundraiser.
This year’s goal is for the pledge-earners to bring in $15,000, said club secretary and event organizer Devon Chisholm.
“It we get $13,000 this year, it will put us over $200,000 raised,” since the event, Chisholm added.
There will also be a 50/50 draw and live entertainment throughout the evening. It will begin at 6 p.m. and will go until “people stop dancing,” she added. “It’s one of our biggest events of the year.”
She said the Curl for Cancer event, while raising money for a worthy cause, is also a good way to introduce people to the sport. “It gets people out. For some of them, it’s the first time that people will try to curl.”
