SYDNEY, N.S. — A Cape Breton hockey player has left his Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s team training camp.
Chase Ellis of Whycocomagh decided to leave the Drummondville Voltigeurs training camp, the team announced via Twitter on Sunday. It’s unknown why the third-round pick in 2018 made the decision to depart.
The 17-year-old forward appeared in seven games for the Voltigeurs last season, recording no points. He was reassigned to the Maritime Junior Hockey League after Christmas.
In other QMJHL training camp news, Dylan MacLeod of Whitney Pier was among 14 players cut from the Saint John Sea Dogs training camp on Monday.
MacLeod, a 17-year-old defenceman, last season suited up for the Cape Breton Unionized Tradesmen, posting six goals and 16 assists for 22 points in 36 games.
