Former Pictou County Junior A Crushers captain Michael Dill will play with the Dalhousie Tigers this coming season.

A three-year Crusher in the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL), Dill played more than 140 games for the team. The Windsor, N.S. native was the 2015-16 MHL Rookie of the Year, recording 51 points, and was a first team all-star amassing the most assists (58) and most points (90) in the league at the end of the 2016-17 season. He followed up with a 62 point season the following year. Dill is the Crushers all-time career scoring leader with 203 points (81 goals, 122 assists).

“I am excited to join the Dalhousie Tigers this year as I continue to play hockey and attend university closer to home,” Dill said in a release.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the team and getting to work with them.”

Dill will work towards a Bachelor of Arts while attending Dalhousie. He spent last season with UMass-Lowell, an NCAA Division 1 school.

“We are excited to be adding a player of Michael’s caliber to our roster,” says Dalhousie Tigers men’s hockey head coach Chris Donnelly.

“His abilities are exactly what we are looking to add to our team, to improve our offensive output. Known for his work ethic and character, Michael put up some big numbers in his final couple of seasons in Junior playing for (Pictou County) and that is what earned him an opportunity in NCAA. However, a desire to play back in Nova Scotia, in the toughest conference in the country, has lead Michael to Dalhousie.”

The Tigers open their season at home when they host St.FX on Sept. 25.
