Crushers collect two wins on weekend

AMHERST - Alexis Roy and Jake Hickey both notched hat tricks as the Pictou County Weeks Crushers beat the Amherst Ramblers 8-4 on Saturday night at Amherst Stadium.

Evan MacLennan controls the puck during Saturday night’s game between the Pictou County Weeks Crushers and the Amherst Ramblers.

Pictou County (6-1) broke up a 2-1 game on the second period with four straight goals.

Michael Dill and Alex Bonaparte also chipped in with goals while Dylan Riley had three assists. Matt LaPointe scoffed two for the Ramblers. Jesse Dunn and Dawson Grenier also scored for Amherst (3-3).

On Friday, Roy had a goal and two assists and Benji Curtis scored twice in a 5-3 win over the South Shore Lumberjacks.

Dill and Hickey also had goals for Pictou County, who had rebounded after a 4-1 loss the night before to the Truro Bearcats.

Luke Melanson got the win in goal.

Scoring for South Shore (2-4-1) were Max Robitaille with two, and Matt Paul. Samuel Cyr-Ledoux had two assists.
