TRENTON – Jacob Pentz scored three goals as the Pictou County Scotians beat the Valley Maple Leafs 6-1 on Sunday.
Colin Holmes, Briden Hawes and Cory McCrudden also had goals for the Scotians (7-3), who have won four in a row and five of their past six.
It was the third time in the past four games that Pentz has recorded a hat trick.
He leads the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League with 15 goals. Holmes, Robert Burrows and Logan Vandemeerakker all helped set up a pair of goals and Matt Murray made 45 saves in the Scotians net.
Vandemeerakker’s 20 assists tops the NSJHL.
Pictou County will play the Eskasoni Junior Eagles next Saturday in Cape Breton, and will welcome the Liverpool Privateers to Trenton rink the next night for a 6 p.m. game.
