Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets pick up two wins

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — The Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets head into December on the right path.

The Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League team picked up two wins last weekend, and have now won seven of its past eight games.

On Nov. 30 at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, Weeks defeated the Moncton Flyers 3-2, with Sam Archibald, Keifer Avery and Lucas Canning supplying the goals and Merle Putnam recording two helpers. Oliver Arnfast got credit for the win in nets.

The next day against the Northern Storm, Pictou County beat the visitors from New Brunswick by a 6-4 margin. Matthew Hunter had two goals, and Putnam, Canning, Bryson Currie and Jeremiah Martin also scored for Weeks. Avery and Blake Kontuk each had two assists and Marcus Pettipas made 34 saves in goal.
