MONCTON

The Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets seem to have found their game in Moncton.

The locals won their second straight game Friday afternoon at the Monctonian AAA Challenge, nipping Quebecs College Claretain Graal 3-2.

Ryan MacLennan and Carson Lanceleve each had a goal and assist, Ben Williams scored a goal and Ben Gibbons got the win between the pipes.

In Thursdays tournament opener for Weeks, they pulled out a 4-3 win over the Saint John Vitos. Williams, Lanceleve, Ben Fraser and Callum Bouma had the goals for Pictou County in that contest, and goaltender Andrew MacLeod stopped enough pucks to get credit for the victory.

Pictou County will play again Saturday at 8:45 a.m. against Ontario Hockey Academy, their final round robin game.

The Monctonian attracts Major Bantam and Major Midget teams from Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario.

On the Major Bantam side, the Pictou County Wear Well Major Bantam Bombers had a Friday night game (5:15 p.m. start time) with Central Attack of P.E.I.

The Bombers played a pair of games on Thursday; they lost 1-0 to the Fredericton Blues before playing to a 2-2 draw against the Western Hurricanes.

Cale MacLaughlin and Blaise MacDonald did the scoring for Pictou County against the Hurricanes.
