The NRHS boys baseball team captured the Division 1 regional high school banner Oct. 4 in Truro.

The Nighthawks defeated CEC 13-3 and North Nova 15-5.

In Game 1 versus the CEC Cougars, Jayden Hatchard was the winning pitcher, going the distance with 10 strikeouts. Lucas Canning and Lane Lochead had three hits apiece while Joseph Mason belted a three-run homer.

Luke Young and Cameron MacKinnon each had two RBI.

Lucas Fraser was the winning pitcher versus North Nova and helped his cause at the plate with a key bases-clearing double. Raine Decoste, Cameron MacKinnon, and Joseph Mason each had two hits while Canning, Mike Law, Andrew Fraser, Chris Avery and JD MacKenzie had singles. The Nighthawks now move on to provincials, which will be hosted by Glace Bay Oct. 18-19.
