WESTVILLE ROAD, N.S. – The Pictou County Peewee AAA Crushers are off to a good start at the Atlantic hockey championships.
Keagan Dalton scored the winner for Pictou County with 1:03 left in the game on Thursday night, snapping a 1-1 tie and sending the locals to a 2-1 win over the King’s County Kings (P.E.I), who had lost earlier in the day to the Bedford Blues.
At the Pictou County Wellness Centre, Clint MacLaughlin scored a power play goal midway through the first period, with assists from Owen Conrad and Kaden Smith, and that lead held – thanks in large part to some excellent penalty killing – until the third period, when David Sibbick tied it up for King’s County.
Jorja Burrows made 25 saves in the Crushers’ net to get the win.
Pictou County will play Friday at 3 p.m. against the St. John’s Hitmen, and also have a 7 p.m. game against Bedford.
