Peewee A Crushers stay undefeated

WESTVILLE ROAD – The Pictou County Peewee A Crushers won both games against the Truro Bearcats this past weekend in league action.

In Truro on Saturday the Crushers won 3-2 in a tight-checking game, with goals from Chris Jorden, Jack MacNeil and Ethan Barker. Setting up these goals were MacNeil, Jordan and Kaleb MacEachern.

On Sunday at the Wellness Center the Crushers overpowered the Bearcats, 7-3. Cole Bryden skated away with a hat trick for the Crushers, with Griffon Horton (2), MacEachern and Ethan Barker also had goals. Assists went to MacNeil (2), Bryden, Rory Cameron, Blake Misener and Ryan Galway with one helper each. Noah Larade–MacDonald and Austin Swain put in strong performances in goal.

The Crushers will face Tatamagouche Nov. 17 at the Hector Arena in Pictou at 2 p.m.

Subway Selects win, tie on weekend
PICTOU, N.S. – The Peewee AA Subway Selects earned a win and settled for a tie in weekend hockey action.

Their first game in Halifax against Metro West Force White was a 3-0 shutout for goalie Caitlyn Cleary, with goals for the Selects scored by Chloe Garcia, from Lily LeBlanc and Namara Clarke; LeBlanc, from Mya MacDonald and Sidney Keay; and Clarke, from LeBlanc and MacDonald.

On Sunday the girls put in a great effort against Metro West Force Blue at the Hector Arena in Pictou. The game ended in a 2-2 tie, with Selects goals scored by Garcia and Anna Kennaley.

Peewee A Selects lose in Cape Breton

INVERNESS, N.S. – The Pictou County Subway Selects peewee A girls hockey team took to the road last weekend to play against Cape Breton West at Inverness.

The girls faced a loss but were able to net two goals, which were scored by Hailey Taylor and Abby MacDougall, both unassisted.
