Peewee AAA Crushers split with Mariners

YARMOUTH – The Peewee AAA Crushers fought hard Saturday in Yarmouth, beating the Mariners 5-3 in Mainland league action at the Yarmouth Mariners Centre.

Ben Manos and Keegan Dalton each scored twice for the Crushers and Kaden Smith had a single, assists coming off the sticks of Amias Crossman (2), Smith (2) singles from Manos, Clint MacLaughlin, Cade Moser and Smith with singles. Jorja Burrows had strong game between the pipes in the victory.

In the second contest Sunday morning, the Crushers came out on the losing end of a 4-2 game. Scoring for the Crushers was Lane Sim and Wyatt Spence, assists coming off the sticks of Landon Steele (2) and Sim with a single assist.

The Crushers next see action at the Pictou County Wellness Centre when the Mariners are in town for a pair of games on Nov. 24 at 4 p.m. and Nov. 25, an 11:30 a.m. start time.

Bantam females drop exhibition game, rebound with win

PICTOU – The Fundy Highland Bantam A Female Hockey Team played Metro East Inferno Red in an exhibition game on Saturday in Pictou. They were defeated 7-2.

Scoring for Fundy Highland was Olivia Marks with both goals. Assists by Frankie Hayman and Emma MacLeod. Playing in nets was Kylee Alexander.

In regular league play on Sunday at Hector Arena, they defeated the Yarmouth Western Riptide White Team 14-2.

Scoring for Fundy Highland was Olivia Marks (5), Lucia Mason (4), Mallory Sangster (2) and singles going to Frankie Hayman, Camryn Wright, Anna Stewart.

Assists to Jessa Mackeil (2), Frankie Hayman (2), Olivia Marks, Ashlyn Bona, Raleigh MacDonald and Camryn Wright. Playing in nets was Myah Ernst.

Bantam AA Selects salvage weekend with tie against Inferno

WESTVILLE ROAD – The Fundy Highland Bantam AA Subway Selects suffered their first league loss and salvaged a tie in two road games in weekend action.

Game one Saturday saw the Selects edged 2-1 by Metro West Force Blue.

Olivia Fitt provided the goal with an assist by Baillie Griffon.

Sunday saw the Selects tie Metro East Inferno Black 1-1, with Erin MacNeil scoring the lone goal. Gabby Arsenault provided solid goaltending in both contests. The Selects’ record now stands at 5-1-1 for the season, and has them in second place in the standings.

Peewee C Steelers continue to win

TRENTON – The Trenton Peewee C Steelers improved their record to 11-0 with wins over the Pictou Maripacs and Thorburn Golden Hawks.

Leading in the Steelers’ 5-3 win over Thorburn was Ethan MacKay with a hat trick, Derrick MacKay and Seth Francis adding singles. Assists came from Landon Martin with two, Jake Maloney, Ethan Francis, Ross Swimaner, and Jesse Arbuckle all with one. Caden MacDonald was the winning goalie as he faced a lot of tough shots.

Pictou goals came from Brennan Archibald, Shawn Rushton and Aiden Tingley. Assist came from Ryan Chapman.

The Steelers then defeated the Thorburn Golden Hawks 11-0 in Trenton on Nov. 19.

Scoring for Steelers was Maloney and Francis both with hat tricks, Ethan MacKay had a pair, while Tyson Barteaux, Caden MacDonald and Aiden Trowell all added singles.

Assists came from MacDonald, Ethan MacKay, Trowell, Swinamar, Thai MacDonald, Landon Martin, Jesse Arbuckle, Francis, Lane MacFarlane and Cole MacGregor.

Derrick MacKay got the shutout.

Peewee A girls get a tie in two games against Colchester

PICTOU – The Subway Selects Peewee A girls hockey team played two games this weekend against Colchester.

The first game ended with a 4-4 tie. Goals from the Selects were from Amelia MacCallum assisted by Kyla Jobe, Kyla Jobe unassisted, Acelyn Potter assisted by Brooke Greene and the last goal from Alexis Tulloch.

The second game was played in Debert on Sunday afternoon and resulted in a loss of 4-2 for The Selects, who received two goals coming from Avery Henderson and Hailey Taylor. Both were very exciting games with strong effort coming from the goalie Rogan MacDonald.

Northern AAA Selects add to win total

WESTVILLE ROAD – The Northern AAA Subway Selects remain atop the NSFMHL standings after grabbing two more victories this past weekend.

On Saturday, the Selects defeated the Bussy Auto Penguins by a score of 9-1. The Subways had a balanced scoring attack with eight different goals scorers cashing in. KJ Emery lead the way with a pair of markers while singles went to Eva Wornell, Taylor Long, Landyn Pitts, Ella MacLean, Jenna Reid, Ashley Livingston and Alyssa Fitt.

Erin Sullivan got the win between the pipes.

On Sunday, it was a battle of two undefeated team at the top of the standings as the Selects traveled to Bedford to face the Station Six Fire, who are in second place in league standings. The Selects had the early edge in play but spotted a 2-0 lead to the Fire, before closing the gap in the second on a goal by Natalie MacKay.

Ella MacLean tied it at 2-2 and then Wornell gave the Selects their first lead. Cassie Clarke added another to take a 4-2 lead into the third period. Pitts added an empty netter for the fifth unanswered goal of the game by the Selects to take the 5-2 win.

The two teams meet again next Saturday at 4 p.m. in Truro in the continuing battle for first place.

The Selects are back at home on Sunday when they face the Penguins at the Pictou County Wellness Center at 12:15 p.m.

Lochead helps lead Bantam AA Crushers to pair of wins

WESTVILLE ROAD – The Pictou County Bantam AA Crushers defeated Western Valley Spartans two games this weekend in Mainland Nova Scotia league play.

In game one the Crushers won by a score of 5-2. Lane Lochead had a hat trick with two goals going to Jayden Duplessis.

Assists went to Brent Chapman (2), Cory MacGillivray (2), Cale Archibald (2), Reese Smith, Eastyn Cameron, Scott Mosher, and Brenden Avery.

Cole Battist collected the win in net.

In game two, Pictou County dominated the Spartans by a score of 9-2. Goal scorers were Lochead, MacGillivray and Logan Crosby with two goals each, with singles scored by Jared Langille, Reese Smith and Duplessis. Assists went to Camden Kelly (4), Smith (3), Cosby (2), Duplessis (2), Jax Graham, Lochead, Chapman, and Cameron.

Evan Ramsey was the winning goaltender. The AA's next see action Saturday in Acadia and at home on Sunday versus Antigonish at 3:30 at the PCWC.

Peewee AA Selects get two shutouts from goaltender Cleary

TRENTON – The Pictou County Peewee AA Subway Selects were the victors in two games against the Valley Wild this weekend with each game having 50+ shots on goal by the selects.

Saturdays game in Trenton was a 6-0 shutout for goalie Caitlin Cleary, with Delects goals scored by Lily Leblanc, Mya MacDonald from Namara Clarke, Chloe Garcia from Ella Fitt and Lily Leblanc, Karlee Rose from Anna Kennaley, Lily Leblanc from Chloe Garcia, and Anna Kennaley from Chloe Reeves.

Sundays game in Trenton was a 2-0 shutout for Cleary, with Delects goals by Elisabeth MacEachern from Brooklyn Hayman and Anna Kennaley, and Mya MacDonald from Lily Leblanc.

Kristen MacNeil secured the victory in goal.

Midget C Royals win twice against Steelers

STELLARTON – The Stellarton Royals Midget C team took to the ice twice this week against the Trenton Steelers, winning both games.

Monday night’s game ended with an 8-7 win for the Royals. Goals coming from Ethan MacIntosh unassisted, Ewan Cameron assisted by Logan MacKay, a pair of goals from Kolby Genno assisted by Luke Fortune and Will Cochrane, Logan MacKay assisted by Logan Taylor, Duncan Cameron assisted by Kolby Genno, Luke Fraser from Duncan Cameron and Jordan Tran unassisted.

The second game was played Saturday night in Trenton, it was very close with the Royals coming out with the win for a final score of 5-4. Goals by Logan Taylor unassisted, Logan MacKay assisted by Kolby Genno and Dustin Casey, Jordan Tran assisted by Logan Taylor and Ray Chisholm, Ethan MacIntosh from Logan Beaton and the final goal coming from Logan MacKay assisted by Owen Brophy.

Jared Snell had the win in nets for both games.
