NEW GLASGOW – It’s becoming a New Year’s Eve tradition in Pictou County.
The Johnny Miles New Year’s Eve Resolution 5km Fun Run takes place this coming Sunday, as participants get ready to bring in the New Year.
“It’s really become a tradition,” said Terry Curley, race director with the Johnny Miles Running Event series, with which the New Year’s run is connected.
“You’ll see people with their kids and their dogs. We tell people we register 200, but anyone can come and join us. We’ll get a big group from Truro coming over, and some that come from Antigonish.”
While the event is already filled to capacity, the free, non-timed Fun Run will start at 6 p.m., and is headquartered at the West Side Community Centre in New Glasgow.
A brief fireworks display will take place prior to the Fun Run, a hot and cold lunch will be served to the registered runners and non-alcoholic refreshments will be provided to help toast the coming of 2018.
