Rhinos get first Minor Midget win


The M.U. Rhino Renovations Minor Midget AAA Rhinos got with their first regular season league win in overtime against the Admirals Friday night

In a game played at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, Daniel Gillis scored 10 seconds after opening faceoff, assisted by Calem MacAndrew. The Rhinos held the lead until the end of the second, when the Admirals netted their first. The third period was scoreless, forcing a 4-on-4 overtime and with less than two minutes remaining in the extra session Gillis found the back of the net again, also assisted by MacAndrew.

Matthew MacEachern was solid between the pipes to record the 2-1 win in nets.

On Sunday at home, the Rhinos were blanked 2-0 by the ChiroCare Kings in a penalty-filled game.

Brayden LeBlanc was in nets, stopping 20 of 22 shots.

The Rhinos travel to the BMO centre in Bedford this weekend to face off against the Basin Armada.
