BROOKFIELD, N.S. – The Pictou County Junior Scotians won their fourth straight game Thursday, beating the Brookfield Elks 7-5.
In a Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League game played at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex in Brookfield, Logan Vandemeerakker and affiliated player Liam Atwater each scored twice for the Scotians, while Morgan Timmins, Blair Dewtie and Jeremy McFarlane also found the net.
Liam Keating helped set up two goals for Pictou County, while Caelan Blaikie had a hat trick to pace the Elks.
The Scotians (17-5-4) are chasing the Glace Bay Miners in the standings, four points back of the front-running Miners in the Sid Rower Division. Pictou County is at Glace Bay on Saturday night in a game they probably need to win if they want to catch the Miners (20-3-2).
The Scotians will play Sunday at home against the Antigonish Bulldogs, a 7 p.m. contest at Trenton rink.
