Close but no cigar for the Pictou County Scotians.
Again.
The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League team lost a pair of one-goal games this past weekend, starting Oct. 4 in Antigonish, where the Bulldogs eked out a 2-1 victory.
Connor Aucoin had the only goal of the game for Pictou County, who held a 1-0 lead heading into the third period. The Bulldogs outshot Pictou County 41-16, with Scotians goaltender Matt Murray stopping 39 of those.
Two nights later in Trenton, the Scotians lost a back-and-forth game against the Cole Harbour Colts, this a 4-3 final in favour of the Colts, who spoiled the Scotians’ home-opener at Trenton rink.
Ryan MacLennan, Sebastian Vella and Tyler Long has the goals for Pictou County (1-2-1), whose next game is against the East Hants Penguins on Oct. 13 (6 p.m. in Trenton).
