TRENTON, N.S. – The Pictou County Scotians split a pair of Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League games this past weekend.

Sunday night at Trenton rink, the Scotians gave up two late goals in the third period in a 6-4 loss to the Eskasoni Junior Eagles.

Logan Vande Meerakker had a hat trick for Pictou County and Chad Tucker also scored, while assisting on all three of Vande Meerakker’s goals.

Pictou County has two games left in the regular season: Feb. 24 at Eskasoni and a home game against the Antigonish Bulldogs the next night. The Scotians can jump over the Bulldogs and clinch third place in the division if they win both of those games.

On Friday night in Springhill, the Scotians beat the Cumberland County Blues 7-4.

Jacob Pentz had two goals, Ian Keating, Jeremy McFarlane, Caelan Blaikie, Will Kelly and David Culberson all had singles. Chad Miller led the Blues with a pair of goals.
