TRENTON, N.S.

The Pictou County split a pair of Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League games with the Glace Bay Miners on the weekend.

After a loss 5-3 on Saturday in Cape Breton, the Scotians’ offence exploded in an 8-1 win at Trenton rink on Sunday.

Will Kelly had two goals and two assists, Logan Vande Meerakker scored twice, and single goals went to Ian Keating, Callum Bouma, Caelan Blaikie and Robert Burrows.

Michael Penny scored the only goal for Glace Bay when he netted a power play marker with 16 seconds left in the game.

Matt Murray made 36 saves in the Pictou County net.

On Saturday in Cape Breton, Ian Keating, Jacob Pentz and Bouma had goals for the Scotians, and Jeremy McFarlane had two assists.

The Scotians (15-13) are at the Cumberland County Blues on Feb. 15 and play the Eskasoni Easgles at home on Feb. 17.
