TRENTON, N.S. – The Pictou County Scotians might be glad to see the Christmas break.
The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League team dropped its fourth straight game Sunday in Trenton, where they took an 8-0 beating at the hands of the Antigonish Bulldogs.
Devin MacLaughlin had a hat trick to pace the ’Dogs, who took both ends of a home-and-home series with Pictou County.
The Scotians (11-8) ended the calendar year in a tie with the Glace Bay Miners for third place, after the Bulldogs jumped over them in the Sid Rowe Division standings.
Friday at Antgonish Arena, two goals in the final 13 minutes of the third period gave the Bulldogs a 4-3 win.
Andrew Boyle and Kurt MacLaughlin scored in the third to help the Bulldogs overcome a 3-2 Scotians’ lead.
Jacob Pentz, Will Kelly and Ian Keating had the goals for Pictou County.
