BRIDGEWATER, N.S. – The season has finally ended for the Northern Subway Selects.

Needing a win to have any hopes of making the medal round at the AAA Midget female national hockey championship tournament in Bridgewater, the Selects lost 5-2 to the Saskatoon Stars on Thursday.

The Selects trailed 5-0 before getting two late goals; Eva Wornell from Ella MacLean, and Kara MacLean on a set-up from Cassie Clarke.

The Stars are the only unbeaten team at the Esso Cup.

The Selects, who captured their first-ever Atlantic title on April 1 in St. John’s, N.L., finished with a record of 1-3-1 at nationals.
