WESTVILLE ROAD – The Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets ended 2017 on a high note.
The local Major Midgets halted a seven-game losing streak on Saturday, beating the Cape Breton Unionized Tradesmen 5-4.
Blake Kontuk scored twice for Weeks, who built a 4-1 lead Membertou Sports and Wellness Centre and held on for the victory.
Carson Lanceleve, Mason Hawley and Rowan Sears also collected goals, while Andrew MacLeod made 35 saves in the Pictou County net.
A night earlier, at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, Lanceleve had the only goals for Weeks in a 3-1 loss to the Cape Breton West Islanders.
