The Knights won the first game 4-0 and the second with a score of 11-2.

Jason Hanes, head coach with the Windsor Knights, said he’s pleased with how the season is going so far.

“Austin Sabean pitched and did really well, and their pitcher did pretty well too and we got some hits,” Hanes said. “Sabean struck out four; had a really good day.”

Centre fielder Alex Patterson, No. 5, also registered several hits and an RBI in the first game.

The Knights won the second game 11-2 thanks largely to a rough start by the Royals.

Cory Whitney, No. 10 with the Windsor Knights, ducks to avoid getting hit.

“We scored eight runs in the first inning. Their pitcher struggled a little bit early on,” he said. “We took advantage of some walks and some mistakes and got a few hits in.”

Hanes said he was happy with his team’s performance, registering no major errors.

He said this is a developing year for the team, with a bunch of young talent eager to prove themselves.

“We’ve got three new guys, including Elliot Dickson-Green who was playing for Kennetcook last year and he’s come on board with us,” Hanes said.

“We’re looking for some of our younger guys to play a bigger role in the team,” he said. “We want them to run with it and bring success for years to come.”

The Knights are home again on June 4 against the Pictou Albions for another double-header. Game time is 1 and 3 p.m.
