NEW GLASGOW: Blast of cold ahead of next messy mix

As the storm pulls east of Newfoundland, a strong and icy northwest wind in the wake of the low is serving up significant wind chill : feel-like temperatures will be near -20 C! However, the blast of cold will be short-lived. By Wednesday afternoon, the leading edge of the next system will reach the western corner of our region. We can expect 2 to 5 cm of snow followed by some freezing rain and then 20 to 40 mm of rain on Thursday. On Friday, a dry, west wind will push the moisture out and bring some January sunshine for the weekend.
