There are many enjoyable ways to spend a sunny fall day, and picking corn is one of them!  Ella and Carter Scothorn own a lovely U-pick in Hardwood Lands, Hants County NS. Last weekend they came across this very unique ear of corn.  If you look closely, you’ll see that there are two well-developed cobs of corn inside.  What to do?  I think I would make a wish!

By the way, Grandpa Gary submitted the photo then rushed off to tend to his herd. Scothorn Farms milk 650 Holstein Dairy cows.

Can you say gorgeous? Ronald O’Toole sent this ‘Sunrise at the Castle’ photo he took on Sept. 17 at Logy Bay, N.L. The sun’s rays look like the petals of a flower as it rises out of the Atlantic Ocean. Logy Bay is located near Torbay and is about 10 minutes from downtown St. John’s.

Louise Campbell of Charlottetown sent this photo she calls ‘Spilt Milk Clouds’ over P.E.I. She saw this cloud formation the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 18. She said the clouds look like milk sloshing. It’s one of Mother Nature’s beautiful things.

Judy Doyle sent this photo of deer visiting her property on Cape Breton’s Mira River on Monday morning. She said deer are frequent visitors to the area and yesterday she counted as many as seven walking along the river near her home. The deer silhouetted against the morning sun are a beautiful sight.

Photos are fabulous, but there's something special about an original work of art. This lovely island scene was created by Malliga Nagarajan, of Charlottetown. It's an oil pastel crayon drawing with a reflective late summer vibe. Thank you for sharing your remarkable talent, Malliga.

When hurricane Larry made landfall on the west side of the Avalon on Sept. 11, many things were blown around. Once the storm cleared, Don Simms found this lovely butterfly resting on a sedum in his yard in Mount Pearl, N.L. I wasn't sure what kind of butterfly it was, so I looked it up. Here's what I found. This beauty is a Vanessa Atalanta or red admiral: a medium-sized butterfly with black wings, reddish bands, and white spots.
