Charges are pending after a 50-year-old woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck early Sunday in Pictou Landing, RCMP say.
In a news release Sunday, RCMP said the vehicle-pedestrian collision happened at about 4:30 a.m. on Pictou Landing Road.
The woman, who was from Pictou Landing, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the pickup, a 32-year-old Pictou Landing man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of impared driving causing death and remained in custody.
A collision analyst was called in to assist in the investigation. The road was closed between Birch and Eagle streets for several hours.
